Obituary

Claude Philo, 85, of Corsicana passed away on April 22, 2020. He was born on December 26, 1934 in Garden City, Kansas to William Theodore Philo and Wava Lindley Philo. Claude was best known for his sense of humor and quick wit. He graduated high school from Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Kansas 1952. He played football for the College of Emporia and continued his education at Wichita State. Claude spent several years in the Naval Reserve. He began working for Magnolia Oil and continued 41 years with Mobil Oil where he retired. His career took him to nine different locations from Beaumont, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska.

Claude and Nancy married on July 5, 1958 and celebrated their 61st anniversary. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Christian Adult Sunday School Class. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed coaching his son’s youth sports.

Claude was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Denzel and William (Bill) Philo, and two sisters Eleanor Slifer and Mildred Edmonds.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children; Peggy Cowart and her husband Pat, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Mark Philo, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and Craig Philo and his wife Jennifer, of Sulphur Springs, Texas; his grandchildren; Jonathan Philo, Corban Philo, Maddox Philo, Maccoy Philo, Sean Cowart, Bekah Cowart Hale and Callie Cowart. He is also survived by his sibling; Carl Philo and his wife Jan of Omaha, Nebraska. Special thanks to Lorna McCowan, Traditions Health and The Village at Heritage Oaks.

Cremation is under the direction of Corley Funeral Home with memorial services scheduled at a later date.
