Mr. Jordie W. Carey, age 85, of Huntsville, Texas passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020 at his residence. He was born on September 9, 1934 in Corsicana to Joseph Edward Carey and Jorgie Lee Bridges Carey.

He married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Rose on December 7, 1959 in Durant, Oklahoma. Jordie spent his life working in agriculture and farming and in the steel mill industry which he enjoyed until he was injured and no longer able to work.
Jordie gave his life to Christ on January 29, 1969 and gained his wings as a faithful servant. Tonya, Jordie’s granddaughter, said that he only had a third-grade education and at the age of 60 the Holy Spirit opened his mind to more knowledge and he learned to read. She also said that he was a precious sweet man who taught many people about his Lord and Savior. He was her confidant and her rock all through her life.
Jordie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, Tony William Carey and daughter-in-law Gloria April Carey and his siblings; Willie Lee Carey and Richard Edward Carey.
He is survived by his sister, Maxine Sterling of Mesquite; his grandchildren; Tonya Kinser of Huntsville, Patrick Schukert of Huntsville and Regina Bates of Wyoming. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his great grandchildren; Bobby Michaelsen of Wyoming, Tommy Graham of Tyler, Michael Michaelsen of Huntsville, Katherine Pummill of Tyler, and his great great grandchildren; Elliana, Carmen, and Logan Michaelsen of Wyoming and Scarlet Rose Michaelsen of Huntsville, as well as numerous other family members. “Fly high Pop”!!!
Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Oakwood Cemetery with Mr. Kelly Lawson officiating.
