Obituary

Mrs. Gladys Ard Coleman, age 82, of Kerens passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Country Meadows Nursing Home in Corsicana. She was born on February 19, 1937 in Coleman, Texas to James Johnson and Barbara Winters Johnson.

Gladys graduated high school and spent most of her adult life caring for others in the Home Healthcare Field. When her children were young, she spent many hours as a Girl Scout Troup Leader and was very active in the Assembly of God Church. She played the piano for many years until her hands became too arthritic to play.

She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking cakes for others whenever needed. She loved having dinners with a house full of friends and family. (she even enjoyed being with strangers) She loved being around people and knowing all there was to know about them. Gladys’ passion was serving the Lord.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Wilbur Coleman; her daughter, Barbara Lynn Thompson; her brothers, James H. “Buddy” Johnson, Clovis Alton Johnson, and David Johnson: and her sister, Frances McFatridge.

She is survived by her son Mark Coleman and wife Clara; her grandchildren, Kristen Redd, Stephanie Aikens and husband, Tony and Jennifer Maggard and husband Charles. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Katelyn and Anthony Wayne Redd as well as her sister, Opal Hunter and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Gladys is scheduled for Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Corley Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM with Pastor Lonnie Keele officiating.

An online guestbook is available at www.corleyfuneralhome.com and selecting the Gladys Ard Coleman obituary.
