Billy Charles  Lewis Jr.
On November 23, 1946 Billy Charles Lewis, Jr. “Butch Little Red) was born to Billy Charles Lewis, Sr. (Papa) and Mary Madelyn Hadley Lewis (Granny Mary) in Corsicana, Texas. He was an only child. He attended high school at W.P. Samuels in Rowlett, Texas. He had a passion for calling square dances, ice skating, water skiing, drag racing (white line fever) and team roping. After high school he went into the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. He left the army in 1972 and later met Wanda O’Pry in the late 70’s. They were married on August 5, 1977 and were married over 40 years. They had one son together, Scotty Lewis.
His career started as a mechanic at Tom White Chevrolet in the late 70’s. Billy started driving trucks across the country as a team driver with Wanda until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Billy is survived by his wife, Wanda Lewis (Gidget); his children; Becky Fincher and husband, Teddy of Silver City, David Lewis and wife, Sharen of Silver City, Stephanie Poarch and husband, Jerry of Wisconsin, Daniel Thompson and wife Christi of Corsicana, Brandy Pullen and husband, Terry of Waco, and Scotty Lewis and wife, Lacie of Dawson. He is also survived by numerous grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He loved watching his grandkids play sports throughout his life. Everyone who knew Billy will forever hold fond memories of their time with him in their hearts.
Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Corley Funeral Home with Bro. Grady Cashion officiating.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the many cards, flowers, food, prayers and kindness shown to them during Billy’s illness. May God cast His choicest blessings on each of you. They wish to say a “special thanks” to the physicians and staff at Texas Health Huguley Hospital in Ft. Worth and Bro. Grady Cashion and the members of First Baptist Church for the love and support shown during these tough times.
