Obituary for Tressa Watkins (Labban)

Tressa was born in Houston, Texas and moved to Corsicana when she was 6 years old. She worked as a “soda jerk” at the Navarro Hotel with her father starting at age 9. She continued working with her father as waitress until her late teens. Tressa established an impeccable work ethic at a very young age! She graduated from Corsicana High School in 1949, continuing her education at The University of Texas. Upon her return to Corsicana she met and married Earl. They had 3 children who they loved dearly and raised with the utmost respect.

She comes from a very traditional Mediterranean family full of love. Sundays and holidays began with church and continued with an amazing Lebanese feast. The entire family participated in preparing food! The feasts were followed by libations, card games and family fun…naps were in there somewhere!!
Instilled by her family upbringing, Tressa had HER passion for faith, family & friends. She loved staying active and in shape. She played tennis weekly with friends & exercised every evening before going to bed! She also enjoyed cooking traditional Lebanese dishes, caring for her puppies, ALL holidays, watching the Dallas Cowboys, traveling with her children & friends, playing cards, working crossword puzzles, shopping and listening to music.
She was a stay at home mom until her late 40’s…caring for her family, preparing home cooked meals breakfast, lunch and dinner! A short time after raising her children, her careers consisted of managing rental property, outside sales rep and modeling high end apparel in Dallas. It is through her time at the apparel mart that she embraced her love for clothes, jewelry, gifts and shopping…hence, Tressa’s Personal Shopping! All the while being an incredible and attentive mom of 3 children. Tressa’s door was always open whether you were shopping or not. She provided fun, friendship, and of course a glass of Chardonnay!

Tressa was beautiful from the time she woke up in the morning until the time she went to bed. Early morning was her favorite time…her time for coffee, breakfast, Dallas Morning News, reflection and preparing for her day! She loved getting dressed up, but she was most comfortable in her jeans, black shirt, wedged shoes and of course sunglasses and lipstick!
A few of her sincere and sweet Tressa-isms included: “Hi Darlin”, “I think I’m gonna make it”, “how are YOU doing”, “AB-SO-LUTELY”, “ it’s a pretty day”, “I need a hug” , “the love certainly works both ways” and “I need my wine”!!!
When she established her business, the butterfly became her trademark…because it signified new beginnings, spring and it was beautiful! She started her successful journey to The World Trade Center…making mad dashes to Dallas EVERY Tuesday for 35 years! As she wrapped up her work each week at the World Trade Center, she exited with a smile and a consistent “See Ya Next Tuesday”! God took her home, jewels and all, on her favorite day, Tuesday!
Peace of the Lord be with Tressa, you made it Mom… we will miss you and love you more every day for the rest of our lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Labban Sr. and Pauline Labban; brothers and sisters, Elaine Labban, George Labban Jr., Elizabeth Dennehy, and Harvey Labban Ex-husband, Earl L Watkins
