Brenda "GG" Graves (Alexander)
Brenda "GG" Graves of Roane, Texas passed away on Saturday March 31, 2018, at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Waxahachie surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 10, 1943, in Bazette, TX. She graduated from Corsicana High School in 1961. She met Billy Wayne Graves when she was 15 in Roane and it was love at first sight. After Billy finished college and she finished cosmetology school they got engaged and then married on August 1st, 1963, at the Chapel at First Baptist Church of Corsicana.
Together they started their business, Graves Oil and Tire Company in 1965, which they owned and operated for 46 years. Brenda ran the front reception, and loved talking with and assisting their customers. She was also a gifted cosmetologist and worked many fun years with great friend, Meredith Twomey Davidson at Golden Hairpin before devoting her full attention to their business. A well-deserved retirement finally came in 2011.
She enjoyed spending time at home with her husband and family. She loved to cook, read and was a long time devoted member to Roane Baptist Church where she served in many capacities including Sunday School Teacher where she impacted many lives. She devoted hours studying her bible and was very knowledgeable. Jesus was always first in her life and she exemplified what it truly meant to be a grace filled Christian.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frank and Ruth Reagan, and her mother, Peggy Reagan Cobb.
She is survived by her loving husband, Billy Wayne; daughters, Shannon King and husband Lindsay, Lori Graves, and Shelby Nunn and husband Robert; grandchildren, Brenna Butler and husband Michael, Carlie Nunn, Camille Nunn, Caylee Nunn, great grandson, Brant Butler. Bonus grandkids include Kurt King of Austin, Kelly Brown and husband Blaine and their children Peyton, Jaxson, Caroline, and Lola of Corsicana, and Kyle King and wife Melanie, and their daughter Madison of Georgetown; Sister, Sherry Cross of Ingleside; Brothers, John Cobb and wife Sharon of Aransas Pass, and Terry Cobb and wife Kay of Oklahoma; special cousin, Bobby Joe Reagan and wife Kay. As well as extended family and a great many friends she’s made throughout her life.
Visitation with the family will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie-Point Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Butler, Rob Owen, Billy Hobbs, Randy Cross, Blaine Brown, Kurt King and Scott Cobb. Honorary Pallbearers are Billy Jack Crocker, Nicky Andrews and Bobby Joe Reagan.
