George Thompson, age 82, of Hurst passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018. He was born on January 7, 1936 in Corsicana, Texas.
George joined the Army on his 17th birthday and served during the Korean War. He retired from Bell Helicopter after 32 years of service. He enjoyed all the time he spent working for Bell’s charitable events: Toy for Tots, food drives for North Texas Food Bank and many others. He loved fishing and hunting with his family and friends. George taught all his children to fish using a cane pole.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Joyce Thompson.
He is survived by his sister Margarett Parsons, his children Cindy Martin (David), Mike Thompson (Chris Moore), Susan Leake (Scott), Joyce’s children Suzanne Malion (Jack), Carolyn Jonas (Kevin), Vince Holloway (Glynda), his grandchildren, Tiffany (Jeremy), Timothy (Katie) Morgan (Benjamin), Garrett, Rachel, Joyie, Patrick, Amber, and his great-grandson Noah.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 27 at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 28 2:00 pm at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Gazaway officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Pattison Cemetery in Emhouse, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be Timothy Martin, Garrett Leake, Benjamin Harris, Kraig Fitzpatrick, Charles (Buba) Bass, and Charles Parsons.
