Obituary for Janie Clark (Davis)
Long time Corsicana resident Janie Clark went home to be with her Lord on December 29, 2017. Janie was born July 31, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri, to parents Wilbur and Jane Vaughan Davis. She moved shortly thereafter to Little Rock, Arkansas, where she grew up and graduated from Little Rock High School. Upon graduation, she worked in the office of the governor of Arkansas before attending Texas State College for Women (now Texas Women’s University). She married June P. Clark of Corsicana, Texas on August 16, 1952. The couple lived in Killeen/Ft. Hood, College Station and Hearne, Texas in the early 1950s before coming to Corsicana permanently.
Janie was an active member of First Baptist Church where she taught youth, young adult, and adult Bible study classes and was involved in many activities and committees throughout the years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed traveling and did so extensively, which included six trips to the Holy Land.
She was preceded in death by June P. Clark, her husband of 42 years, and her daughter Melissa Clark.
She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Horner of Granbury, Texas, her son Matt Clark and daughter-in-law Doris Clark, of Coppell, Texas, grandson Noah Clark, granddaughters Elle Clark, Lindsay Baggett, and Emily Menson, and great grandson Alexander Menson.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Talbert and Dr. Danny P. Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
